Born and raised in Ghana, Anita Afonu graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Film and Television Production from the National Film and Television Institute. She majored in documentary filmmaking and her thesis film Skin Canvas, has screened and received nominations in International Film Festivals in over ten countries. She also made Perished Diamonds, a film that documents the rise and fall of the Ghanaian film industry with assistance from the Goethe Institut-Ghana and Life Forms Limited. She has spoken at a number of events including The African Women in Cinema Conference, the Accra Francophone Film Festival, The CFI archives and memory workshop and the South African Communication Conference. Realizing the high demand in the visual documentation of projects for brands and corporate bodies and organizations, she started Roaming Akuba Films in 2012 to cater to the need. She enjoys watching films and travelling.
A graduate of the National Film and Television Institute, Kobe Boateng studied Film Editing where he graduated top of his class. He has worked on a number of Award winning Projects such as Skin Canvas, Perished Diamonds and Small Town Fishermen. He has also been an editor of the prestigious Vodafone Icons for the past three years. His attention to detail and the basic principles of editing has made him the favorite of many directors. When not editing, he likes to watch movies and spend time with his father.
Jonathan Alderson is a self-shooting producer and director. He has filmed and directed for broadcasters including the BBC, Teachers TV and National Geographic. His more memorable shoots have included filming aboard air-sea rescue helicopters, following fraud squad officers on dawn raids and tracking alligators in the swamps of Louisiana.
During a two-year period living in West Africa, Jonathan was employed as Head of Production at Metro TV, the biggest commercial TV channel in Ghana. During this time he also worked on a freelance basis in Ghana with a wide range of international clients.
More recently Jonathan has worked in Nigeria with broadcaster AIT, helping to found a new educational TV network. Back in the UK Jonathan has worked on a range of projects for television broadcast and for commercial clients through Hidden Picture Productions.
Daniel Richardson- Sound man
Daniel Richardson has been working professionally as a Soundman for the past six years. He worked on a number of projects before joining Roaming Akuba Films in 2013. He has in the past done work with Farm House Productions, Multi TV and The Africa Channel. When not working, Daniel enjoys spending time watching films with his wife.
Timothy Edzeani Doh-Cinematographer
In 2006, Timothy participated in the 4th Berlinale Talent Campus in Berlin and the Real Life Film Festival workshops in Accra. Since graduating from Film School with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and TV Production, he has work in documentary films such as First Earth (2008) and Roots Germania (2007). His short films include Harmattan Pawpaw (2014) and Little Tengzor (2014).
Timothy was a participant at the 2011 IDFAcademy Summer School with his first feature length documentary film project ‘Senior James and the Children of the White Volta’. This film has received development support from the Jan Vrijman fund, Goteborg Film Festival Fund and the Chanel 4 Britdoc PUMA.Creative Catalyst Award. He lives and works as a freelance filmmaker in Accra, Ghana.
Nii Kwate Quartey-Executive Producer
Nii started his career in show business in 1993 organising a number of events and parties at major nightclubs and venues in Accra alongside pioneers including Mark Okraku Mantey and Rocky Dawuni. In late 1995 Nii took an interest in film vis a vis writing and producing, as well as journalism. His works featured in publications like the West Africa magazine and several small publications. By the year 1999, Nii was turned his attention to music recording assisting in the development of several artiste careers including Omanhene Pozoh, Kwaku T, Mokin, Ras Kwesi, Jawhi and many more. He worked in the capacity of an artiste manager, A&R for Pidgen music and executive producer. He won the exclusive rights to produce a tribute album to the late Nina Simone. Nii enrolled in NAFTI in 2004 and graduating in 2009 as a film directing major. His final production won 6 or the 7 nominations for its category (best cinematography, sound, editing, screenplay, art direction and best film). As a film director Nii has collaborated in the following projects MTV sponsored video for Tinny (co-director with Rachel Watanabe Batton), Miss World documentary video for Ghana’s 2010 finalist/Winner of Beauty with a purpose category (director/writer/producer), Adverts for Sivoderm/Soft Hair products (writer/director).
In 2012 Nii took yet a new direction into real estate. It was born in part due to the lack of film/music venues in Ghana , a pattern that makes revenue generation difficult. He co-founded Quartey Internal Holdings LTD and its sister companies Utopia Property Company Limited and Easy Logistics LTD to address the needs of affordable housing and properly planned communities.
